As Apple is gearing up to launch the iPhone 15 series, news regarding the iPhone 16 lineup started to break loose. To give you a perspective, Apple will announce the iPhone 15 series in the coming September this year. That means the iPhone 16 lineup has over a year from now.
But as the industry goes, it’s never too early to start speculating what future phones might have in store. So, when the CAD images of the iPhone 16 Pro Max broke loose, people started to compare it with the soon-to-be-released iPhone 15 Pro. And honestly, things are looking very interesting.
iPhone 16 Pro Max Might Have Larger Display Than iPhone 15 Pro
Before anything else, I need to clear out one thing. That is, the CAD render images of the iPhone 16 Pro Max do not state the final design of the phone. Apple can change things throughout the manufacturing process, and the phone might not look the same as the images. So, it’s important to note that the information presented below is based on rumors. And you should take it with a grain of salt.
With that said, let’s get into taking a closer look at the CAD images. So, the iPhone 15 Pro models were initially rumored to come with solid-state buttons with an Action Button. But later down the line, it was uncovered that Apple faced design difficulties. For that reason, it switched to regular buttons but stuck with the Action Button.
On the other hand, the iPhone 16 Pro models are expected to come with the solid-state button solution. It will also have the action button that will debut with the iPhone 15 series. And while the latest CAD renders do not shed light on that regard, it does offer us a glimpse of the display of the future flagship device.
6.7-Inch vs 6.9-Inch
As shared by Sony Dickson and revealed by 9to5Mac, the iPhone 16 Pro Max will come with a 6.9-inch screen. That would be the largest screen found in the Apple iPhone family. Most importantly, it could purportedly be a step up from the iPhone 15 Pro Max, which is rumored to feature a 6.7-inch display.

Now, as you can expect, the larger display size means that the iPhone 16 Pro Max will be taller than the 15 Pro Max. As per the CAD render, the phone will be tall, 165.0 mm, whereas the 15 Pro Max will likely be 159.8 mm. Fortunately, the CAD renders also reveal that the phone will be wider, from 76.7mm to 77.2mm.
Thanks to that, the aspect ratio of the iPhone 16 Pro Max’s display will not seem off. That said, this is not the first time we are hearing details about the display of the future device. Previously, analyst Ross Young and Ming-Chi Kuo reported that 2024 models would boast a bigger display.
But as hinted earlier, the rumors and speculations regarding the iPhone 16 Pro Max are still young. The final word still resides in the hands of Apple. Still, it would surely be interesting to see Apple debut a 6.9-inch phone in 2024. After all, foldable and flip phones are starting to pick up popularity. And one of their key selling points is giving access to a large screen that fits in the pocket.
Now, if you are not a fan of large-screen phones, you should note that reports suggest that iPhone 16 Pro and the regular models will have the same screen size as the current lineup. That is, they will likely retain the 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch displays.
