iPhone 16 Rumored to Feature Vertical Camera Layout Like the iPhone 12

Apple has made a good amount of adjustments to the rear camera module of iPhones. But there’s no denying that a major change took place with the debut of the iPhone 11. Afterward, Apple played with the lens position and added more sensors. But since iPhone 12, Apple has stuck with the same lens positioning on the phones. Well, as per the rumors, iPhone 16 will change that.

The thing is, for having a similar camera layout on the back, it’s not easy to distinguish between the standard model and the Pro phones. Apple might have realized it and decided to make a change with the iPhone 16 lineup. As the rumors suggest, the standard phone will feature a vertical layout instead of a diagonally-arranged setup.

Apple iPhone 16 Might Switch From the Diagonally-Arranged Camera Layout

First of all, Apple is expected to announce the iPhone 16 lineup in September 2024. So, the device is still very far away from launching. Apple may change the design plans, and the final device may not look what the rumors suggest. For that reason, you should take all the info below with a good amount of salt.

That said, Apple has switched to diagonally-arranged rear cameras starting from iPhone 13 series. And Apple utilized the same design for the iPhone 14. In fact, even the iPhone 15 series is expected to have the same design! So, if the rumor is correct, the iPhone 16 will surely stand out from the past models.

But that’s not all. According to the leaker, the vertical arrangement of the iPhone 16 will make the device “instantly recognizable.” While it’s still unclear why Apple would return to iPhone 12-like design, you can get some hints from the launch event of the iPhone 13.

Apple said, “A redesigned rear camera layout with diagonally arranged lenses enables the advanced dual-camera system.” So, Apple has perhaps figured out a way to fit the camera in a vertical orientation again.
