It now looks like Apple is working on a similar tech. According to a document spotted by The Wall Street Journal, Apple has banned the use of ChatGPT and other external AI techs and is creating its own similar tech.

Apple posted 28 new AI – related positions in only the first three weeks of May. These roles includes senior engineers, research scientists, special project managers, and more. The company wants to “transform Apple’s mobile computing platform,” redefining the iPhone and iPad by using the power of generative AI.

Tim Cook had some concerns about the most recent quarterly earnings call. His concerns are due to the company’s progress with generative AI. Although he finds AI to be incredibly intriguing, he also thinks that it has a lot of flaws that need to be solved. Thus, he believes that the company must be careful with its adoption. According to Cook, Apple thinks AI is “great” and will keep funding related R&D for its products.

Most of Apple’s AI Jobs will work in Cupertino

At the time of writing this article, Apple is looking for 87 roles with “AI” in the title. More than a third of these roles were created this month. Over half of the positions became available in March 2023. The most recent job ads offer similar positions, and Apple is also testing a new natural language-generating tool for Siri. These new AI job ads’ diversity, volume, and development are a reflection of Apple’s efforts. Apple hopes to develop natural language AI capabilities as well as generative AI,. This can be used in a variety of ways across platforms and services. According to job listings, Cupertino has the majority of the new AI positions, but there are also some in San Diego, Austin, Seattle, and other cities.
