Microsoft Responds to the Demand of PS5 Owners with a New Feature for the Xbox

Xbox Home UI

When it comes to the battle between Microsoft’s Xbox and Sony’s PlayStation consoles, you can easily relate it to the battle between Android and iOS. The battle is not really about features since they both offer similar features. The real battle is between the fanbase of these consoles. Even though both consoles come with almost the same features and specifications, users are always eager to highlight the slightest differences. In most cases, they brag about these differences with the claims that some features make one better than the other.

Speaking of features, there is a little feature that Sony just added to the Xbox. In actual fact, Xbox users did not really request for this feature. On the flip side, those who requested for this feature are the PS5 owners. PS5 owners have long asked for a little overhaul of the home screen but their cries ended with no luck. Microsoft on the other hand has done exactly what the PS5 owners have always wished for.

Microsoft Has Redesigned the Xbox Home UI Xbox Home UI

The company has completely changed the home user interface of the Xbox. The new home screen redesign makes it easier to accommodate background images. Microsoft also touched on other areas of the dashboard to make it a lot simpler than the previous one. This UI changes was supposed to come last month. However, the company paused to update and decided to make more changes. With the new looks of the UI, all users will agree to the fact that the wait was truly worth it.

The first difference you will notice is the rearrangement of the app tiles. Microsoft has pushed the tiles down the screen to give a more beautiful look to the background. Also, the company has reduced the sizes of the tiles to make them look more compact and occupy less space. One of the most eye-catching parts of the whole new UI is the new responsive game art. This automatically changes the background whenever a user hovers over a game tile or an app.

At the very top there is a new floating UI that holds other features of the Xbox. This is where the user will find extra features such as game and app library, Microsoft Store, Xbox Game Pass, search, and settings. With this, it becomes straight forward to access your quick access settings.

Availability of the New Xbox Home UI Xbox Home UI

The new Xbox Home UI is currently under testing with Alpha Skip Ahead and Alpha Xbox insider testing rings. The company is likely to roll out the new changes to all Xbox consoles in a few months’ time.

Ahead of the public release, Ivy Krislov, senior product manager lead for Xbox experiences has delivered a statement. We designed hundreds of options. Then refined with prototypes and finally user-tested in our Research labs until we found one, we hope you’ll love. It balances the experience, accessibility, function, and the needs of our community,” she added.
